American Film Society, a Non-Profit Organisation [501 (c) (3)] was found by Allen George and Romeo Kattookaran with a vision to spread the magic of global cinema in the city of Chicago. We aim to empower local and global filmmakers and make the art of film making reach the masses. Our film society plans to conduct workshops and acquisition camps for local film-makers, artists and organises an annual film festival in the city of Chicago to support independent film makers.

Chicago International Indie Film Festival organised by the American Film Society, a Non-Profit Organisation [501 (c) (3)] celebrates independent filmmakers from all across the world and provides them a platform to showcase their films to a global audience. CIIFF believes in empowering independent film-makers and bringing international films to local audience.

Our objective is to encourage independent filmmakers who explore diverse ideas and thereby promote dialogue pertaining to various issues globally. 

Festival Highlights

The 1st edition of Chicago International Indie Film Festival was hosted in 2021 at ShowPlace ICON Theatres at Roosevelt Collection in Illinois, Chicago. CIIFF 2021 received active participation by filmmakers and artists from Chicago and other states of the USA along with overseas artists who visited Illinois for the film festival. We received more than 400+ film entries from 60+ countries which included Feature films, Documentaries, Short films, and Animation movies.
